Austin has over a decade of experience in information technology leadership, most specifically in the areas of cybersecurity, cyber-counterintelligence, and cybercrime, with an emphasis in government and regulatory cybersecurity compliance. Prior to founding Buonasera Group, Austin served in multiple senior corporate roles, including leading the Information Technology, Cybersecurity, and Insider Threat Protection programs of a prime defense contractor.
Austin is also a commissioned reserve peace officer and has been assigned to numerous special teams and multi-jurisdictional task forces involving investigations at the federal and state levels. As a member of the Oklahoma Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, Austin established an impeccable track record of using his cyber background to conduct meticulous investigations combatting child exploitation and human trafficking, which resulted in the identification and arrest of child exploitation and human trafficking suspects around the world. In 2023, Austin was recognized nationally as the Human Trafficking Investigator of the Year at the North American Human Trafficking Conference.
As a relentless advocate for justice and the rights of victims of exploitation and abuse, Austin has been a board member of multiple non-profit organizations and often provides pro bono digital forensics consulting for cases involving domestic violence and crimes against women and children.
